  • Clusters of trumpet yellow flowers are borne above dark green, strap-like arching broad leaves in spring, and occasionally in autumn and winter.
  • Evergreen clump forming strap-like tough perennial.

  • Excellent plant for thriving in part shade, especially under trees.
  • Nice pot and tub specimen, in shady courtyards or verandahs.
  • Lovely garden subject that will add contrast to any garden, mixed bed, border or rockery.
  • Clivias look good in groups of 3 or 5 throughout your shady garden areas.•
  • Looks good mass planted in garden beds.
  • Excellent border (pathway marker) strap-like plant along front of garden beds.
  • Clivias are great in pots



Clivia Plant Care Tips:


  • Pruning: Only need to cut off dried flower stalks.
  • Water requirements: Low once established. Will tolerate dryness, but does better if watered in dry periods.
  • Fertilize annually with a long term slow release fertilizer.
  • Mulch 50mm thick to maintain moisture in the soil and suppress weeds.
  • Soil type: Adaptable to a wide range of soils.
  • Light: Full Shade to Part shade•Best Climates: From Tasmania up to the Tropics.
  • Frost Tolerance: Yes, except extreme mountain frost.
  • Pest & Diseases: Generally pest and disease resistant

  • While I have chosen the yellow clivia for my ‘Outstanding Performance
    Range’ there are other colours available. the most common is the orange
    flowering clivia and the cream flowering clivias, but there are also other
    colours becoming more easily available.
  • Very good plant for dry shady spots.
  • Harmful if eaten, skin and eye irritant
